Humane Revolution is a movement of change, which has been formed in response to the inhumane practices of testing on animals and battery farming. There are many websites that can show you images of the cruel practices that submit animals to reprehensible torture and you can find some of these sites on my “Links” page. However, I wanted this site to focus a little more on the positive, on what we can do to eventually eliminate industrial animal cruelty.
Take your money away from companies that are cruel to animals
Follow my blog as I work my way through replacing household consumables with cruelty-free alternatives. I’ll review these animal friendly products based on efficacy, price and sensory appeal. I’ll be focussing primarily on products available in New Zealand, but in some cases may look at what’s available online for overseas purchase.
It’s important to note that there are no legal definitions for the terms “cruelty free” and “not tested on animals”. So you can’t always trust the message on the packaging. So if you are writing to a manufacturer you have to be very specific with your questions:
- Does your company or anyone on behalf of your company, test products or ingredients on animals?
- Are any any of the ingredients that you purchase for your products tested on animals?
- For cosmetics – Do you sell your products to China? Under Chinese law all cosmetic ingredients must be approved by the Chinese authorities first, this involves animal testing.
Companies get bought out and CEOs change their mind, so it’s always a good idea to keep an ear to the ground – Google your favourite brands next to animal testing, see what comes up.
