Keep your fur-baby clean and silky smooth the natural, cruelty-free way!
I was previously using FIDO’S Puppy and Kitten Shampoo (Australian Company) and was happy enough with that, but on the downside it isn’t listed on a reputable cruelty-free list. So when I popped into the Source Living Store, where I was holidaying in Russell, I was more than happy to try something new. There they make natural soaps, skin care, candles and supply essential oils and cosmetic ingredients. When I asked the owner, Sue Rutherford, which product they were the most proud of, she answered that she had a lot of very positive feedback about the Natural Dog Shampoo Bar.
Review
I love Source Living’s Natural Dog Shampoo Bar, mostly because it leaves Coco’s fur so much softer and keeps it nice and shiny; I just can’t stop patting her! The feedback from my family on the scent of this soap bar is that it smells like Eucalyptus and herbs; Coco, once washed and dried is described as “nice” and “she smells like leather”. Another advantage of washing my fur-baby with Source Living’s Natural Dog Shampoo Bar is that she dries much quicker, which is quite important in winter.
I find it hard to decide on its effectiveness as a flea repellent, I may come to a better conclusion after more time. The first time I washed her, I found a dead flea in the water, but the very next day, I found a live flea on her, which I squished, then again the day after that; so I ended up resorting back to her usual “Comfortis” pill, which is supposed to last a month. Currently it’s still flea season (according to other dog walkers), it’s been two months since the “Comfortis” and I’ve washed her another 2 times with Source Living’s Natural Dog Shampoo Bar and she is still free of fleas. So maybe initially there was some fleas in the bedding and maybe they were REALLY hungry so ignored the repellent, or maybe I didn’t use very much soap the first time; I felt like I used a lot more soap the last time I washed her, because she was really dirty and she ended up so much softer from using more. I’ll update if I come to a firmer conclusion. I will definitely continue to use this awesome doggy shampoo and enjoy the silky softness of my fur-baby
